GSP Owns Matt Hughes! Liddell beats Silva!

Looks like GSP laid a good ole' butt whoopin' on Matt Hughes in their UFC 79 matchup. Matt Hughes is certainly a legend in MMA, although I think it's safe to say he is past his prime. Regardless, GSP dominated every aspect of the fight and made Hughes 'matee' ( for all you Bloodsport fans out there ). Since this was an interim Welterweight title match, GSP won the title. Being the class act he is, he handed the belt to Matt Serra, who was unable to fight due to injury.

Also, Liddell seems to be back to his winning ways in beating Wanderlei Silva in their much anticipated, yet somewhat overdue match. Both fighters were looking to turn around from recent losses, with Silva having to wait a little longer.

Patriots 16-0!

The Patriots are officially undefeated in the regular season. I'm hoping for ( and assuming ) the Colts will knock them out when they meet in the playoffs. The Patriots certainly look vulnerable, but somehow find a way to win. I think the Colts have the best chance at knocking them out, as I don't really see any team in the NFC challenging them unless they have a bad day.

Screech and Fit Club

So I've been watching the Celebrity Fit Club Marathon and all I can say is, what the wrong with this guy? Why does contradict himself so much and act like such an ass towards everyone? The guy has to have been type casted as Screech for his career as much as his real life. He just doesn't seem to care about anybody and acts smarter than he actually is. He comes off as trying too hard to be intellectual, yet he contradicts himself and makes up excuses for any sort of criticism that flies his way. I didn't even know he had a sex tape out (doesn't everybody now?), which seems to have been a planned leak for financial gains. Either way, this guy needs to own up and use his "true" intellectual capacity if he feels like he can't earn enough money. It actually makes me mad watching this guy do what he does...

Oscar Peterson

Jazz great has left us. A youtube video of him.

GH3 - Through The Fire And Flames

This... kid... is... INSANE! I can only wonder how long it took him to learn that song... After watching that vid, I proceeded to earn a whopping 0% complete when attempting the song on expert.

Can't this kid earn some money at some GH3 competitions or something? Seriously, this kid is going to develop carpal tunnel from this song.

Ron Paul - Why?

So I understand that people on Digg.com absolutely love anything Apple, Ubuntu, and Ron Paul... Why is Ron Paul such a great candidate? I understand he is a staunch supporter of the constitution, but what else does he bring to the table? How many of his ideas would actually be feasible with the way our government is set up? What are his ideas?? I can look up how he has voted on issues like abortion and the budget, but what exactly does he want to change? It sounds like he would bring a dramatic change to the US if possibly nominated AND elected, but it seems that the baby boomers/a majority of his peers think of him as an absolute nut. Hopefully someone can help me out by commenting...

Red Bull BC One '05 - Lilou vs. Hong 10

So I've always wished I could breakdance, heck I wish I could dance period! Anyways, I was doing some browsing on youtube and happened to come across the Red Bull BC One competition. The top bboys in the world are invited to participate in this annual competition and I've found a great video from the BC One '05 competition. The video is the final battle between Lilou and Hong 10, two highly regarded bboys. I've come to really enjoy Lilou's creative style and have found several other youtube videos of him. Check it out!

BTW, the song that comes on when Lilou is dancing is "Menusha & The Girls - You Boys (Can Boogie Too)"... I found it pretty catchy and had to find it.

Lou Mitchell's in Chicago, IL

After reading many glowing reviews of this breakfast hot spot, I felt, what I realize now, to have been an over-inflated sense of anticipation. Upon arriving at Lou Mitchell's, I was greeted with a what I call, "standard" 15 minute wait to be seated. The place was certainly bustling with patrons and worker bee servers, but what immediately caught my eye was the "No checks or credit cards" and another sign indicating a charge for criticisms/suggestions. I thought the latter sign was a joke, but I think that it was actually a legitimate notice. Now this immediately turned me off as a rather pompous and arrogant statement. I understand that people may be upset with some decisions they have made, which I imagine include not accepting checks or credits cards, but to charge customers for criticisms/suggestions seems like a rather maniacal method of handling the situation. To say I started my Lou Mitchell "experience" on a bad foot was an understatement.

Either way, standard service followed along with a fairly standard breakfast menu. The food was promptly served and was satisfactorily prepared. I feel they could handle the traffic of patrons in a more efficient manner, but to say they were mishandling it would be brash. Everything flowed smoothly until the end of the meal, where the server neglected to notice a finished and clean table. After waiting roughly 15 minutes for a check, which included flagging down a bus boy to simply get the attention of our server, the Lou Mitchell "experience" had concluded. To sum it up, I would not recommend this place as there is a marginally better breakfast hot spot right down the street in Greektown by the name of Meli's Cafe and Juice Bar. I give Lou Mitchell's a 6/10.

Loving Ubuntu

The power supply on my desktop PC has died on me, so I've been using Ubuntu on my laptop exclusively. I have not missed my windows machine while it has been out, although I have had an itch to play a little WoW. For everyday use, I think Ubuntu is great, but I still remember some pains getting to this point with my laptop. This included my graphics driver, my wireless, and installing Beryl/Emerald. After these hardships, I had become acquainted enough with using the CLI and everything was seamless! I am currently playing with mediawiki at work and am learning to set it up and edit. Lots of fun geekiness to be had!

Teacher fired for causing students to think.

An Evansville, IN teacher is fired for his innovative approaches in an inner city school. Well it worked and now that kids are motivated to learn so they gave him the pink slip. He has quite the local following from students and parents but it would be nice to get the world out there from more than just local news.

I think the education system in the US is due for an overhaul. For something like this to happen because of 'No Child Left Behind' is ridiculous. Children need to be grouped together by intelligence progression needs to be based on competence in the subjects rather than age. Teachers unions need to be disassembled and superintendents need to stop running schools like corrupt CEO's. Teachers need to be paid based on performance. I feel we are heading down a slippery slope with our education system, and we are slipping and falling all the way down.

Myth Busters!

I haven't posted in awhile, and I don't feel like writing much... I do want to say, check out my site I'm developing, The Jam Basement. I hope it helps musicians find each other! On another note, here's an awesome site with every MythBusters myth on one page! http://www.drivl.com/myths
